Water Stewardship
July 2008Tejon Mountain Village is committed to a comprehensive program to responsibly meet the water needs of future residents and guests of our proposed mountain resort community.
Our commitment was recently advanced by the July 18, 2008 approval of a Water Supply Assessment (WSA) by the Tejon-Castac Water District’s (TCWD) Board of Directors. A WSA is required by state law to ensure TCWD’s available supplies can meet the long-term needs of Tejon Mountain Village as well as other demands.
We’re pleased to report that this assessment shows that Tejon Mountain Village’s water needs can be met through TCWD’s existing rights to the State Water Project, water banks in Kern County and a proposed water recycling plant, rather than local groundwater resources.
For more details about this important milestone go to www.TMVwater.com.
Plans for Tejon Mountain Village also include numerous water-saving elements that will help the community become a model of water-efficient planning and living. For example, a Water-Wise Program will be implemented to reduce water and energy use through the use of tank-less water heaters and low-flow plumbing and fixtures in homes and community facilities when possible. Outdoor water use will also be minimized through the use of drought-tolerant landscaping, drip or water-wise irrigation systems, state-of-the-art irrigation controllers, and other innovative measures.
It is important to note that TCWD’s approval of the WSA does not constitute authorization or approval of any of our requested plans for the community, all of which remain subject to Kern County’s discretionary review and approval.
Please take a moment to send us your thoughts on our proposal. This will help us to better understand your thoughts and priorities for Tejon Mountain Village.
We look forward to hearing from you.
